DO NOT RENT FROM HERTZ RENT A CAR AT THE SAVANNAH AIRPORT.

1. They do not participate in the Hertz app reward program.

2. They will give you a car with 1/4 tank then charge you for gas they never gave you!!! This happened to me when I rented from them this Oct (2024), brought this to their attention - weeks later they sneakily charged my AMEX. Tried calling to speak to someone about this - no one EVER answers the phone here. Emailed - no response. Still dealing with AMEX to have the charges reversed. Next step reporting them to the Better Business Bureau! Be forewarned!!!

I had a great experience with them. Everyone I spoke to was so nice and even recognized me when I returned my vehicle. Yes, there is a shortage of cars (it’s a small airport/location), but you’ll still get one. I ended up getting a great one. I will rent with them again and hope to have the same 5 star experience.

I was returning the car early so I decided to pre-pay the gas. Left the rental facility and realized there was barely more than a quarter gallon of gas in the car. It was a Hyundai Palisade so I paid for more than $60 of fuel. Told two different employees on my return and was just given a look of a shrug and an attitude of 'whatever'. I responded to the email receipt and did not hear back anything. I have pictures of the dash from just after leaving the facility and on return. I usually have good experiences with Hertz but the Savannah location was a huge disappointment.

Edit, below is the picture I took when I realized the tank was not even close to full. Also note, they have a social media specialist who immediately replies and says they will have someone look into it. No one ever does. The apologies and replies are empty and only a weak attempt to save public face on the site. It has been close to a week and there is obviously zero attempt to care to fix the issue. Hertz should come in and fire the entire local staff and start again.

Worst experience I have ever had renting a car. Hertz Gold customer so I follow multiple signs directing me outside the building to get my car. Find the booth and sign taped to window says "go inside". So I go inside but there is no Gold queue. I should have known this wouldn't go well when I saw a Savannah police officer and airport security "refereeing" a customer transaction at the Hertz counter. When it's my turn and I present my driver's license and credit card, I also ask to speak to a manager. Agent says she is having a challenge with her computer and refers me to the agent next to her. Interesting that she then took the next customer in line and was able to handle them. So I proceed to get my rental done and ask what number stall the car is in? The agent says they don't mark the stall number but I should just use the emergency button on the car key to find it. Seriously!! Next I get the manager and explain the issues with the Gold signs taking me on a "field trip" for nothing and that the agent staff at the counter is disorganized and not helpful. She says she will look into the issue with signs and they are dealing with a shift change and things are a bit chaotic. Told her not my problem and left. Not using Hertz at SAV ever again.

I want to detail the negative experience my family and I had on Saturday June 15th at the Savannah GA airport with Hertz.

I paid for the rental car at the Hertz counter at 6:50PM. The room was so loud, and the employee spoke so softly that I could barely hear her questions. We didn’t get our name called for the rental car until 8:15PM, after standing around endlessly with no updates.

The car keys we were given at 8:15PM were for a Hyundai Palisade (7 passenger), with less cargo room than what we had requested online (a minivan).
We walk outside the airport to get into the Hyundai, and we find a used car tire in the trunk, and a yellow donut spare tire on the front left driver side.
We immediately walked back into the airport to notify the only associate at the counter, and showed her photos of the tire in the trunk, and the yellow donut.

She was able to give us a different vehicle at 8:45PM.

A 2 hour wait for a rental car is inexplicable. It caused us to miss a dinner reservation that night with the rest of our family on Hilton Head Island. I have never had such a poor experience picking up a rental car.

You wait a long time for your car. You will also be charged $200 and told you will be credited when the car is returned. I returned the car with a full tank of gas (though they did not give me a full tank). I called to let them know this issue and they don;t answer the phones the there mailbox is full. I called corporate and they said this branch is privately owned and they can not help.

Tried the link and it was of no help. It's not my bank. You took charged me then added pending then took pending away and went for the full $200 charge. This link only says the pending charge will be released but you charged me!! and took the pending away

First let's start with my visit. I entered the Hertz location and the two young ladies working the counter were uninviting and seemed as if I were bothering them. I asked did I needed to pick up at the counter or the booth because I'm a Gold member, but it was early and cold outside, so I was unsure. The one young lady never looked up from her phone, the other pointed me to the booth outside, no greeting, no have a good morning nothing! I got to the booth, and they didn't have my car ready. I booked a luxury car and was offered a Dodge Hornet or Ford Explorer neither of which were even close to Luxury. Then the two people working in the booth were trying to locate a supervisor to go get a luxury car, after 15 minutes of back and forth with each other they finally got one of the new people to go get the car. Meanwhile I'm standing in the cold, waiting on a car. Now I'm late to start my day. Finally, the car arrives and I'm on my way. I returned the car today and got an email with my receipt and saw I'm charged for an additional hour. Talk about adding insult to injury. I was formerly a President Circle member and stopped using Hertz because every location has been on a decline. My need to regularly rent cars locally and when traveling has recently increased so I figured I'd give Hertz another shot. I rented yesterday and Wednesday of this week, my Wednesday experience was much better but yesterday definitely reminded why I stopped using Hertz!

I have to say that I can only count 2 people at this location that are professional and courteous.. other than those two everyone else should be replace to NOT FACE the public. Some of those folks have HUNG UP on my call and let me be honest, NO I wasn’t being rude NO I wasn’t being unprofessional, NO I never yelled at them. I simply called to find out where to send the pictures that the car that I was renting was not in perfect condition in regard to scratches. Mind you, I only called to get an email to send those the rep HUNG UP ON MY CALL. No, no accidentally disconnected she 100% ended the call. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable.
