I purchased a brand new 2023 VW GTI. I am not a new car guy, but I didn’t want my wife to have any car issues in a foreign country. Brian, the salesman, was great and helped make the purchase smooth. My issues began three months after purchasing the car when the weather started getting cold. I have the following issues several days each week: the infotainment system shows “component protection active.” When this happens I lose the backup camera, parking sensors, apple car play, heated seats, air conditioning, heating, speed sensing cruise control, drive modes, crash warning sensors and lane departure sensors. I have also had the car engage automatic braking on the highway three times. I also had loud static voices warning me that I needed to purchase a feature license repeatedly while driving. I find these to be significant safety issues and the cars value is significantly less than it should be. I reached out to MAS and followed their instructions to take the car to the dealer multiple times. I provided them a list of the issues and the dates they occurred. The dealer said these issues are known issues and will eventually be fixed with the software update. When you research the term ‘infotainment center error in cold weather’, you see that this is the excuse that has been given by Volkswagen for over two years. No solution, but they will tell you that in a couple of months the software fix will be available. The brochure I have from MAS said the MAS will refund your purchase price if you end up getting a lemon. I learned that the off base MAS does not honor the MAS warranties that are advertised. They said they are not the same as the on base MAS and there is no buyback guarantee off base. It has been a very difficult process, trying to get a hold of management at MAS. I did everything they asked, including driving a few hours out of my way a couple of times to their preferred dealership where there have been no solutions offered. The solution they provided was to wait an indefinite amount of time for a possible software update that will fix all of these issues with the car. I am not one to post bad reviews, but this issue has added so much extra stress to our first PCS move.

We purchased a 2018 VW Beetle from MAS, working with Brian Woods; fantastic experience! They’re very customer-focused and went above and beyond to get me into a special edition Beetle - a feat that required quite a bit of extra effort on Brian’s part! I love the car and Brian was, and has continued to be, a great resource for us, making the purchase and process through customs as seamless as possible... any bumps in the road: he was ready to navigate us through the whole experience!
